A platform for knowledge sharing and cooperation at the intersection of technology, finance, and governance.

The Institute for Technology Finance and Governance brings technologists, researchers, domain specialists, lawyers, regulators, policymakers, and practitioners together around independent analysis of how digital financial technology is governed. The work is rigorous, free of commercial influence, and published for public benefit. It is yours to read and to cite.

Research agenda

What we study

ITFG works across five domains where analysis has to join technology, law, and institutional governance at once. It is the kind of analysis the field needs and rarely has in one place.

  • Regulatory Technology & Digital Supervision

How technology is transforming regulatory and supervisory practice: SupTech tools, automated supervision, and the governance of the supervisory function itself.

  • Digital Finance Governance

Governance frameworks for digital financial services, including MiCA, DORA, the AML package, and the EU digital finance strategy.

  • AI in Financial Services

Model risk, the AI Act's implications for financial sector use cases, algorithmic transparency, and automated decision-making.

  • Open Standards & Sovereign Infrastructure

Technical standards, open-source software, and digital sovereignty in the governance of financial and public infrastructure.

  • Smaller Jurisdictions in European Digital Finance

The experience and perspective of smaller EU member states, particularly those with disproportionately large regulated fintech sectors.

About ITFG

The Institute for Technology Finance and Governance is registered in Cyprus as a private company limited by guarantee. That is the legal structure for non-profit organisations whose purposes are public and whose independence is written into the constitution rather than left to policy.

We are not a consultancy, an industry association, or a lobbying organisation. Our constitutional documents prohibit those uses. We exist to share knowledge, to convene independent exchange, and to publish research for public benefit.
